song in my head:
Times of refreshing here in Your presence

No greater blessing than being with You
My soul is restored, my mind is renewed
There's no greater joy, Lord, than being with You
had a refreshing time of prayer together with hamster. amazing how uplifting talking to God can be. :)
we had a talk about what we want our relationship to look like in 5 years' time. 5 years seem a long time away, i know, but it's good to look ahead and have something both of us want to work towards. so here are a few key things we talked about (sheesh man, i'm sounding more like him):
1. God-centered: putting God first, seeking Him when making big and small decisions, looking to Him for guidance. praying together often.
2. Peaceful: because we have enough chaos in our families. haha. basically reduce disagreements to hopefully zilch, resolve things peacefully and maybe adopt a dove. i'm kidding.
3. People-centered: (this does not clash with 1. ah) meaning, being selfless, reaching out to people, always looking to see how we can serve others in a Christ-like manner. to not be so caught up with each other that we forget that the world is made up of more than 2 people. be friendly!
4. Open: because i'm a communication student and know how important an open climate of communication is. haha. to be able to talk about anything, and to want to talk about anything of concern. not hiding, not afraid, but yet not over-criticising, or complaining mindlessly/endlessly.
5. Mature: that others may see that though we like to fool around and play and perhaps do silly dances, we are mature adults who are able to make decisions on our own. (don't laugh okay, people)
6. Preserving our individuality: that we will not lose ourselves in this journey through life together. that we will remain unique individuals, instead of adapted versions of each other. this is quite tricky, i think, because we are inclined to want to be like the one(s) we love. or you know, we could be willing to give up/compromise what we value alot for the significant other. it ultimately is your own choice, but i think it should not be that you totally give up who you are for the other person.
but if, say, you like to wear brown t-shirts with brown pants and brown shoes, and your skin colour is brown also, i'll tell you to please change your wardrobe because i'll be REALLY tempted to colour your hair green. hahahhahahah. sorry hamster. you know i love you.
so anyway, that's that. i don't have a punchline for this post, but i have a punch-picture! haha.
have a blessed Christmas, my friends. :)
